About Us

Meet the Laidlaws

We’re Kris and Jackie Laidlaw, partners in life, love, and a whole lot of learning. What started as us trying to figure out our own stuff turned into something bigger with conversations about marriage, parenting, healing, and what it really takes to stay connected. Mirror Me grew out of that journey, and so did our passion for sharing the messy, meaningful parts of growth. We’re not experts, just two people who believe in doing the work, laughing through the hard parts, and helping others see themselves a little more clearly along the way.

Jackie Laidlaw, Author

Jackie Laidlaw’s story proves that healing often begins in the mirror. For nearly two decades, Jackie has worked as a hairstylist, but her true gift has always been connection. Behind the chair, she became a “thatrapist” — the safe place where clients could laugh, cry, and be real. Those countless conversations taught her that everyone carries invisible battles, and that reflection is the first step toward transformation.

Her own battles included people-pleasing, perfectionism, and the silent weight of trying to hold everything together. Alcohol was once a way to numb the noise, until Jackie discovered a deeper truth: sobriety alone wasn’t enough. What she really needed was emotional sobriety — the ability to pause, self-parent, and respond with compassion instead of reactivity.

Together with her husband, Kris, Jackie turned those lessons into a new path forward. Co-author of Mirror Me: The Art of Self-Reflection, she writes with raw honesty and humor about the messy, beautiful work of marriage, motherhood, ADHD, and self-discovery.

Today, Jackie is a wife, mother, author, and speaker who champions authenticity and growth. Her voice is both relatable and refreshing — reminding women (and men) that you don’t have to be perfect to be powerful, and that the bravest thing you can do for your family is to face yourself first.

Kris Laidlaw, Co-Author

Kris Laidlaw’s story is proof that you can outrun the life you were born into—but only by facing it head-on. Born into the shadow of an NFL legend, Kris grew up in privilege, pressure, and rebellion. His early life was a whirlwind of sports, parties, and globe-trotting adventures—from playing college football to opening Margaritaville in the Cayman Islands, to living the wild nightlife of California. Along the way, he chased approval, fought authority, and drowned out his doubts with alcohol and drugs.

When a second DUI nearly cost him everything, Kris made a decision that would define his life: he got sober. That was over 4,000 days ago. But sobriety wasn’t the finish line—it was the starting line for the real work. Alongside his wife, Jackie, Kris learned the art of emotional sobriety, turning battles into breakthroughs and helping couples navigate back from the brink.

Today, Kris is a husband, father, author of Mirror Me: The Art of Self-Reflection, and a voice for men who want to show up for their families without losing themselves. His mix of raw honesty, unfiltered humor, and hard-earned wisdom makes him a powerful storyteller—one who can make you laugh, challenge your perspective, and remind you that no matter how far you’ve drifted, you can always find your way back.
